Swansea University's Great Hall crowned 'Best Public Service Building' at the Neath Port Talbot Building Excellence Awards

8th February 2017

Swansea University's new Bay Campus celebrated further success as it's iconic Great Hall was crowned 'Best Public Service Building' at the recent Neath Port Talbot Building Excellence Awards 2017.

Mac Interiors, Principal Contractor for the Fit Out works, collected the award at the Annual Building Control Awards which took place at the Towers Hotel and Spa last Friday 3 February. All winners from the evening will go on to represent Neath Port Talbot in the Welsh Regional Finals during the spring.

Located at the centre of the new £450m Bay Campus, the Great Hall features a  state-of-the-art classical music concert auditorium with the capacity to host events for over 700 people.

Specialist designers were commissioned to ensure that the auditorium’s layout, technical and acoustic design met the high specification required to provide near perfect acoustic qualities. The variable acoustic system allows for modification of the room so that it is appropriate for both orchestral acoustic music and amplified events.
