Double success at the Brownfield Briefing Awards 2017!

29th September 2017

Prosurv celebrated double success at last night's prestigious Brownfield Briefing Awards 2017 picking up ‘Best Project Closure/Verification Process’ for Coed Darcy and ‘Best Brownfield Infrastructure Project’ for Llanwern. The prestigious awards ceremony took place at the Grange Tower Bridge Hotel in London.

Best Project Closure/Verification Process – Coed Darcy

Following a detailed remediation programme, to eventually enable the redevelopment of the former Oil Refinery, the Engineers and the Construction Team undertook an extensive verification process at Coed Darcy working closely with the Local Authorities to ensure the S106 remediation criteria was achieved.

Best Brownfield Infrastructure Project - Drainage Network at Glan Llyn

The design of the surface water drainage at Glan Llyn demonstrates an innovative response to sustainable urban drainage which considers a unique set of constraints. The flat site topography, a high level discharge to Monks Ditch and flood and water quality issues in the Gwent Levels have necessitated the consideration of the long term impacts of climate change and a need to manage conditions way beyond the site boundaries. This has been achieved by the innovative use of site specific flow modelling using real time data which demonstrates best practice. The design has forced a reconsideration of the purpose and functionality of the drainage system.

This has allowed improvements in visual amenity and a landform which will encourage biodiversity. Overall the drainage network is as an integral part of the character of the site providing a high quality urban landscape with benefits to downstream ecology and on-site bio-diversity.
